You can find the updated regulations on the official national park website: www.parquetorresdelpaine.cl.
Basic important points to consider:
- You may only camp in authorized and designated areas within the national park; otherwise, you risk expulsion from the park and a fine.
- The use of fire and heat sources (including portable stoves) in unauthorized areas is strictly prohibited due to the extremely high risk of wildfires, such as the devastating ones in 2005 and 2011 that burned thousands of hectares. The law severely penalizes violations with fines, imprisonment, and expulsion from the park for both national and foreign offenders. Tourists must use stoves only in designated and marked areas.
- Swimming in rivers, lagoons, and lakes within the national park is prohibited. Remember that we must minimize our impact on nature, and none of these bodies of water are suitable for bathing, posing a high risk of drowning.
